Responsibilities

PhD Project

  • effects of long term training on the energy metabolism of domestic dogs (beagles) and their reversibility
  • structural adaptions of the locomotion musculature, induced by the training
  • applied project: establish a correlation between the oxygen consumption and the heart rate in beagles so that the energy demand of working beagles can be easily estimated without major methodological effort

I am currently working with ten beagles trained to run on a treadmill according to a detailed training plan. I am using non-invasive methods like respirometry, ultrasonography of muscle and heart rate monitoring to record morphological and physiological adaptions to training.
